Privacy policy

Effective Date: August 3, 2026

Joshu ("us", "we", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect the information you provide when using our website joshu.me (the "Site") and our services (together, the "Services").

The Services are not offered to individuals located in the European Union or to European Union citizens. We do not knowingly provide accounts or paid Services to such persons. If you believe we have collected personal information from someone who is ineligible, contact us using the information below and we will delete it where appropriate.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect various types of information from users of our Site and Services, including:

Personal Information:

- Information You Provide: When you interact with our Site or Services, such as by registering an account, making a purchase, subscribing to our newsletter, or contacting customer support, we may collect personal information such as your name, email address, postal address, phone number, payment information, and other information you voluntarily provide.

- Service Content: When you use the Services, we may collect the inputs you provide ("Input"), the outputs generated by the Services ("Output"), and related service activity needed to operate the agent (for example, connected account activity you authorize us to process). Input and Output are collectively "Content."

Non-Personal Information:

- Usage Data: We may collect information about your interactions with our Site and Services, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, referring URL, and other usage data.

- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We may use cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies to collect information about your browsing activities and preferences. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when websites set or access cookies. However, if you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this Site may become inaccessible or not function properly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We may use the information we collect for the following purposes:

- To provide and maintain our Site and Services

- To determine eligibility for the Services and enforce geographic restrictions (for example, using IP address, billing address, or account information)

- To process transactions and fulfill orders

- To communicate with you, including responding to inquiries and providing customer support

- To send you promotional emails, newsletters, and updates, where permitted by law

- To analyze trends, monitor usage, and gather demographic information about Site and Service usage (using aggregated or de-identified data where practicable)

- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, abuse, and security vulnerabilities

- To evaluate and improve product quality and reliability (for example, analyzing failures or sampling Content for quality review)—not to train foundation models or third-party general-purpose models

- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights

3. Conversations and AI Content

We retain Content for a limited period to provide, secure, support, and evaluate the Services. Automated systems may analyze Content for abuse, security, reliability, and product-quality issues. A limited number of authorized employees or contractors may examine selected conversations when reasonably necessary for safety, support, or quality evaluation. Access is role-based, logged where practicable, and subject to confidentiality obligations. We remove or obscure obvious sensitive identifiers where practicable before human review, and we prefer the minimum Content needed for the review.

We do not use Content to train foundation models or third-party general-purpose models. If that practice changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide notice as described below before applying the new practice to your Content.

Model providers and other infrastructure vendors may process Content as our service providers solely to help us operate the Services. They are not authorized to use your Content to train their general-purpose models for their own purposes under our arrangements with them, except as separately disclosed if our practices change.

We delete or de-identify Content according to our retention practices, subject to legal hold, security, and account needs. You may request deletion of personal information as described in Your Choices and Rights.

Do not submit secrets, regulated data, or information you are not authorized to share unless the Services are expressly designed and contracted for that use.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your information with third parties in the following circumstances:

- With trusted service providers who assist us in operating our Site and Services—including cloud infrastructure, payment processors, communications providers, and AI model providers that process Content on our behalf—subject to contractual restrictions on their use of the information

- With your consent or at your direction, including when you choose to participate in promotions or share information publicly

- When required by law or in response to valid legal requests, such as court orders, subpoenas, or government investigations

- In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, where your information may be transferred as part of the transaction

We do not sell Content, and we do not share Content with affiliates or business partners for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

SMS and mobile information

If you opt in to SMS or MMS with Joshu (for example, two-way texting with your box phone number, or transactional notifications), we use your mobile number only to provide that messaging. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include physical, technical, and administrative safeguards designed to secure the information we collect and store. However, please note that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You have certain choices and rights regarding your information, including:

- Access and Correction: You may request access to, review, or update the personal information we have collected about you. You may also request correction of any inaccuracies in your information.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us to request deletion of the information.

8. Updates to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on our Site and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. If we begin using Content to train models, or otherwise materially expand how Content is used, we will provide advance notice before applying that change to existing Content.
